Asante Kotoko mourn Dominic Frimpong after fatal armed robbery attack

Asante Kotoko have joined the football community in mourning the death of Berekum Chelsea forward Dominic Frimpong, who was killed in a reported armed robbery attack on the team’s bus.

The incident occurred as Berekum Chelsea were returning from a Ghana Premier League fixture, with armed men attacking the vehicle and causing panic among players and officials. Frimpong, 20, lost his life in the tragic circumstances, while others sustained injuries.

In a statement, Asante Kotoko expressed deep sadness over the passing of the young forward, describing his death as a painful loss to Ghana football.

“Our thoughts are with his family and Berekum Chelsea Football Club. May his soul rest in peace,” the club said.

Frimpong was regarded as a promising talent and had been making his mark in the league prior to the incident.

His death has sent shockwaves across the domestic game, with clubs, officials and supporters paying tribute and calling for improved security for teams travelling for matches.
